Formula 1 partners with Selfridges to open a pop-up, selling rare and exclusive vintage racing pieces! The event is named ‘F1 75 Years in Motion’ due to F1 celebrating its 75th year of racing. The event will go on from the 23rd of June until the 6th of July in London! If you’ve been a reader of mine since the start, you know I don’t typically venture out into the fashion, marketing and behind-the-scenes side of the sport, yet I’m a sucker for vintage and timeless pieces, so I just had to write about this!
The history of the 75 years is presented through one-of-a-kind clothing pieces, giving a nod to legendary teams and drivers, memorabilia, art, photography and much more! Along with that, the pop-up features some exclusive TAG Heuer timepieces! TAG Heuer has been an important part of the sport, with it becoming the first watch brand to sponsor an F1 team back in 1971 with Ferrari. In 2025, it took over from Rolex to become the official timekeeper of the sport. The pieces available are the Heuer 1974 Silverstone model, along with the 1976 Cavallino, which is a desk clock modelled after an F1 racing helmet.
Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer at Formula 1, has said: “‘75 Years in Motion’ is a curated celebration of Formula 1’s 75-year legacy brought to life through vintage pieces, memorabilia, merchandise, art, and collectibles from across the sport’s history. Fashion has played an integral role in Formula 1’s story over the years, and so launching this exciting first together with Selfridges is a natural fit. This is more than just a celebration of the sport, but recognition of its cultural significance, where vintage and modern meet to encapsulate our rich, and stylish, story.”
Perfectly worded, as we even have some style icons amongst the sport. I mean, come on, have we not seen Lewis Hamilton making the paddock his personal runway every week? And he does it very well! On the topic of Lewis Hamilton, his hyper-realistic bronze sculpture celebrating his 2024 Silverstone victory is displayed there!
Formula 1 has expanded its popularity over the years, having its largest fan base to date, with millions watching all around the world. It’s the pinnacle of motorsport, so it’s important to remember the beginnings, best moments, key journeys and much more. Despite if you are a long-time watcher or a newcomer, this collection brings both the past and future together and blends them into special pieces.
